Is It Worth Adding A Vitamin C Product to Your Skincare Routine?
Is it worth adding a vitamin C product to your skincare routine?
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which helps to reduce skin damage caused by sunlight, ultraviolet exposure, smoking, stress and environmental pollutants.
It helps to give some sun protection although it’s not a substitute for an SPF product.
It helps the skin to heal faster and is a powerful collagen stimulator.
It reduces fine lines and improves the skin texture and it reduces pigmentation like sun spots or age spots.
You need at least 10% L ascorbic acid and you can go up to 15% and 20% as you tolerate it.
Vitamin C needs to be in dark bottles to prevent it oxidising and losing its effectiveness.
You apply vitamin C in the morning after cleansing your face, about 5 to 6 drops for your whole face and neck and you can use a drop or two on the back of your hands.
Apply your SPF a couple of minutes after your vitamin C. It’s never too late to start incorporating good skin care into your routine.
Although many of us have had decades of sun exposure your skin renews itself constantly every 4 to 6 weeks and you can reverse quite a lot of existing damage.
We recommend starting your Vitamin C at 10 %, moving up gradually to 15 or 20 %, but any of these strengths will be effective.
Don’t worry if it tingles for a minute after application.
